Casey, Finding Gratitude
Casey Head is a survivor of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and this week’s guest on DJ Breast Cancer. Casey was diagnosed at the age of 31 and is a three time cancer survivor.
Casey discusses her treatment plan and ultimately getting approved for a plan when she had no other options. Casey even faced a stroke as a result of her chemo, but continued to get chemo. She juggled physical therapy and learning to live with a stroke while still undergoing treatment. She is a warrior and such an example of resiliency in the darkness.
Casey often turned to gratitude and exclaiming what she was grateful for despite everything happening around her. She exemplifies that you may not be able to control what happens to you, but you can control how you react to it. Casey finds that listing five things you are grateful for was key to her mental mindset.
With so so many years consumed by cancer, Casey found it hard to plan longer than one week out. Several vacations that had been planned were canceled due to cancer. She is now about to embark on a trip to Spain in September! I am so excited to share her story with you!!
