This week’s guest is Breast Cancer Survivor, Izabela Gardula. Izabela describes cancer as a crazy tornado. Despite testing negative to the BRCA gene, she found herself in the same situation as her sister and aunt. Diagnosed at 33 with Stage 3A Breast Cancer, Izabela describes the importance of a positive attitude. Izabela describes that attitude is half the battle.
Izabela is a force of nature, she doesn‘t sugar coat anything, but always keeps it real. We laughed together about yoga (I have learned to love it, but Izabela stills doesn’t “get it”) and she describes honestly how initially she didn’t think she needed a support group. She quickly realized all the great information at all hours of a day that other survivors quickly can provide. In Facebook groups, she would put a question out and get 100 response, all hours of the day... Does a cancer patient ever really sleep, so many other cancer survivors would provide real-time, amazing tips!
Afterwards, Izabela wanted to give back to the cancer community and her commitment to other survivors with peer counseling along with helping others figure out their bills & financial issues. Izabela is fierce, organized and has a huge heart. She is an advocate for others and provides a great resource for under your rights. https://triagecancer.org/cancerrightslaw
