Leaving a Legacy

How do you honor a friend that passed away from breast cancer? Francine Schubert passed away from breast cancer in 2002 and her friends decided to honor her memory by helping others.
The goal of Francine‘s Friends is to establish a mobile mammography unit to serve every woman in Allen county and the surrounding area who might otherwise not receive a screening mammogram and follow-up care was reached late in 2005 when Francine’s Friends mobile mammography was launched.
My podcast guest this week is Marita Dwight-Smith, Executive Director for Francine’s Friends. She has an extensive background of mammography and uses her expertise and technical skills in conjunction of helping others. We met for lunch one day and I knew we were destined to work together. Marita is dedicated to helping others get early detection, assisting those that may not be able to afford a mammogram, and making it convenient for women to get a mammogram. Her team is kind and empathetic, knowledgeable and convenient for women in Allen County (Northeast Indiana).
