This week’s guest is Tammy Salamone, actress, personal trainer, and breast cancer survivor. Tammy is a mother to 3 beautiful young ladies and wife to a very supportive husband. Tammy is very active in the breast cancer community, with a blog www.thepinksurvivor.com and has given interviews and speeches on her journey.
Tammy and I met via Instagram and I immediately connected to her amazing positivity and love for life. I see so many posts with comments from Tammy that are full of love, support and hope. She is truly beautiful inside and out. I have never met Tammy in person, we live thousands of miles apart, but I feel like I know her. I know one day we will meet and be real life friends!!
I recently told Dr. Teplinksky that you can “choose” your tribe, a pink posse of positivity and I would choose Tammy every day!! She inspires me, she is kind, she gives back and she truly cares about other survivors.
We had a great conversation on Episode 6 with discussions about the love of caregiver and the importance of exercise. Both Tammy and I had the love of our incredible husbands, who held our hands and made us feel beautiful each and every day. Neither of us take this for granted, we are truly blessed. The power of support and love in a cancer diagnosis is so helpful to a cancer patient. Whether it’s a best friend, a beloved co-worker, a sibling or a spouse, find your person for the journey.
Exercise was very important to Tammy before, during and after her cancer diagnosis. Tammy shared this article with me and all of you!!! Exercise is so important to breast cancer survivors and greatly reduces the risk of a recurrence and deaths related to cancer, especially in cancers that are hormone driven. https://blog.dana-farber.org/insight/2018/02/can-exercise-reduce-risk-cancer-recurrence/
Tina, you are so inspiring and when you talked about your breast cancer experience in your season 1 podcast series, I kept relating to SO much you said! You will truly be my pink sister for life! XXOO Thank you for letting me be a part of your season 2, I was honored to share my story and hope it helps others as well!!
