DJ BREAST CANCER

A Podcast on Tina's Breast Cancer Journey, a "Girlfriend's Guide" to Breast Cancer.

Tina's story must be told.  She has lived the breast cancer journey both as the survivor and the daughter of one.  Tina knows both sides of the story.  She has been the ears that have heard, the eyes that have watched, and the hand holder.  She too has been the body that has been sick, weak, and worn.  Her soul has come forward with unyielding optimism about her own future and that of her fellow survivors.  Through her experiences, those affected by breast cancer will find inspiration that they too can hope for a promising future that will wipe away the pain of the past, replacing it with joy and gratitude.  Sit back and listen in to her inspirational Podcast debut, DJ Breast Cancer.

Love & Launch

Guess what?!! My podcast DJ Breast Cancer is now LIVE on iTunes and Spotify! What better way to celebrate than hosting a Launch Party with my closest friends and coworkers.

With the Polar Vortex shutting down nearly everything in Fort Wayne, I moved out the party by one week. The weather may have delayed the celebration, but it did not dampen the vibe of the party. With 25-30 close friends and coworkers, I gave a little kickoff speech, thanking my husband Jon, Melissa, Jen And everyone there!! And I did it without crying!

My husband Jon was truly part of my cancer journey and made me feel beautiful each and every day. Our first year of marriage was spent in doctors’ offices, chemo chair and hospita rooms, but we had each other. Now, five years later, he continues to support me and even though he may not understand everything with this Podcast project, he knows it’s important to me. It is like the air I breathe.

Melissa is my friend, made closer by this project. Her own sister is a breast cancer survivor and she was a supporter and true friend to her sister throughout her journey. Early in the process, we met over coffee and looked at fonts and discussed my logo. From there we did an original photo shoot to help provide content for my website and social media. We had fun together and it was a challenge to both of us, pushing us both in ways we never have been pushed. To find someone who understands my vision and creates images for others to see and feel the emotions was truly heaven sent! And we love our coffees and planning sessions together!!

Jen, my boss, gifted me the amazing cake as a beautiful birtbday gift. Her mom makes cakes that taste as amazing as they are beautiful. With the Polar Vortex, I was able to freeze my cake and pulling out one week later. It was so so beautiful and with a Boston Cream filing, was mouth watering!!

My party was at one of my favorite places, Birdboy Taproom. With delicious microbrew and friends on hand, I felt the love! It was such a good vibe and i truly look forward to planning Season 2. I will use this platform for other breast cancer survivors and those making change to breast cancer stories to life.

This is upcoming week I will be a guest on a Podcast, Escaping the Doldrums and I look forward to sharing my story about how work, meaning and purpose all changed after a cancer diagnosis. I am fortunate to work for Vera Bradley, a company whose originators created a foundation for breast cancer research after their dear friend Mary Sloan passed away from breast cancer. I am fortunate that every customer is asked to round up to support Breast Cancer research. I am truly blessed to be surrounded by loving and supportive coworkers!!
